Our Inquiry Big Understandings and Questions:

Our Inquiry Big Understandings and Questions:

Wonderings lead to questions, action, play, innovation and creativity.
We can use our wonderings to find out more about the world.
We use all of our senses to explore the world.
We use our prior learning, assumptions, instinct, collaboration and many forms of research to learn about our world.

What are we wondering about the world?
What similarities and differences do we have with others in what we are curious about?

To support our initial Inquiry into these understandings and questions, we are asking the children to bring in an artifact from their holiday which we are calling a 'seed'. The artifact could be an object or an experience (represented in a photograph or other documentation) - anything that has triggered curiosity, questioning and wonderings.

For example, Simone showed photographs of her experience swimming in the Yarra River in Warrandyte and her wonderings such as, 'What animals live in the river?', 'Where does the river start/ what is the origin of the water?', Where does the river go?, 'Do ducks sleep at night?', 'Was there gold mining in the river?', 'What is the difference between a river and a creek?'

Jessica modeled her wonderings after visiting a pop art exhibition, and after wondering about different healthy food, Anna explored watermelon and its nutritional benefits.

We look forward to exploring the children's artifacts and wonderings.

Thank you for your support!
The Year Two Team.
